Vogue pattern hands across the ocean!

I have picked up my local JoAnn's last two copies of our Vogue pattern. The sale continues through Saturday. Can anyone else help gea_gilwen get a size 6-8? How about anyone else that can use a $3.99 copy post here with your payment options (I'm thinking PayPal would be the easiest), and folks in the States that are able can pick up copies for those who need one for our inaugeral jam.

JoAnn's has Vogue patterns for $3.99 this Friday - Sunday. I'd be happy to pick up a couple of patterns for our challenge for those outside of the US or anyone not near a JAs. We can work something out with Paypal.

Request for future jams

Hello folks, could I just make a request for bearing in mind when choosing patterns for future jams....

Vogue patterns are ridicuously expensive and not everybody has access to places that sell them cheaply.

Here in England the choices are either to buy them full price or wait utnil they are several years old and hope they are still available in the size you want when they are remaindered in order to make way for new stock.

Yes, we could order them from U.S. outlets that sell them cheaply, but in my experience, ordering anything from the U.S. involves shipping costs that make event he cheapest baragain not worth ordering.

Just something to bear in mind

Hello all,

Sorry I haven't posted earilier.. my friends laughed at me when I told them I had joined this group, yet could not report on what was going on. Sigh. Life has been busy. But I have made a personal commitment to be less passive online. So here I am, and after the holiday, I can report back to them and possible earn some new recruits for the community.

ANYWAY>>>> Love this pattern. Hides everything I need it to hide :-) Beautiful lines.

So I will spend the next 4 weeks acquiring the pattern from somewhere and trolling thru my far too large collection of fabric. Another of my 'goals' is to not BUY any fabric but use something I already have. (after 5+ years in the garment industry one acquires large amounts of fabric....)

Very excited to see what everyone comes up with! And excited to have a goal to work towards. Helps keep me focused. Hope you like what I have to show!!

This could prove expensive

Well, I now know where I can get hold of the pattern, but I'll have to wait until I've taken measurements (tonight, fortunately) before I buy it

However, I have a nasty feeling that my victim may be not only between sizes, but also between pattern-size divisions and I'll have to buy two patterns in order to work from the sizes either side of her measurements.

Lets hope not!

Well, I have plenty ideas of possible changes to make to the pattern and vague ideas for the fabric.

There's one small problem though, the pattern is not on sale in Australia. The pattern wasn't released till mid-year in the U.S. and the southern hemisphere release is approximately six months behind. I know it was in the June/July issue of vogue along with V2902 (just pictures of the finished dress)but am not sure exactly what month that it was released in catalogue so don't know if it will be available for purchase here (Australia) or not before the jam starts (it doesn't help that two fabric chain stores around here don't always put the new catalogues out within a few days of getting them).

So getting to the point does anybody know of a place other than Vogue patterns to buy patterns online from and that is reasonably priced?

To order from vogue patterns for the pattern and postage it's a total of us$22.00, roughly au$29.00 which is not what I prefer to pay (usually the RRP on the vintage vogue patterns here are au$24.50). Ideally I'd like to pay less than $18.00 U.S. total if possible because otherwise I might as well wait for the pattern release here.

Thank you.

YES, fabric yards and yards of bright red cherries on deep dark blue....... at only 2 bucks a pound from our local textile mill outlet..........now a victim. Plus they have a lovely velvet dark burgandy that says gothic all over it for 98 cents a yard 90" wide too!!!!!

If you haven't checked please look up your local textile warehouse outlets!

hmmmmmm my mother in law? nahhh she has a gun permit and she knows where i live.. but an apron might be nice....that girl from work.. yeah that might work and she is the right size.

OOOHHHH I wish the pattern came in my size .

Sitting on my desk at this very moment is the package containing seven metres of dark chocolate brown silk dupion and a further few metres of dark burgundy dupion.... Mmmm...

Now I really must get around to finding somewhere accessible that stocks the pattern!

Fabic selected and ordered

Unlike my usual level of slow-starting disorganisation, the Pattern Jam seems to have fired me with enthusiasm.

My victim has been found, the fabric is chosen and on order (dupion instead of taffeta, chocolate brown with deep burgundy detailing), a measurement-taking date has been booked. All I need to do now is find somewhere to get a hold of the actual pattern and wait for the Jam to start!

I have a victim!

There's no way I need a dress like that, and making it to sell afterward is no inspiration or incentive to get it done so I needed a willing victim.

My pal Lissa has taken the bait, on the grounds tha she needs a new party dress, and is about to look at whats on offer at my supplier of silk bridal taffetas to see if there's a colour she likes.
